Walking the SIQ at Petra (Wadi Mousa) Jordan
The best time for photography is early in the morning and late in the afternoon, also to avoid crowds. Cliff views looking down on the Treasury are best in the morning, while the Monastry is best in the afternoon.
From the ticket office, walking to the Treasury is about 1.5 miles and takes around 1/2 hr to an hour depending upon your desired pace and how much you stop along the way to enjoy it, but you also take a horse, camel or carriage. To avoid crowds and heat it's best early in the morning. After a long day of exploring, take a ride back to the entrance! Walking the SIQ at Petra (Wadi Mousa) Jordan
The Siq is a mile-long narrow gorge that leads into the city of Petra, emerging in front of the famous Treasury. However, to reach the start of the SIQ, you must first walk about a 1/2 mile along a wide valley called Bab as-Siq (Gate of the Siq). Allow yourself an hour so you can stop and enjoy the views along the way to the Treasury.. Walking the SIQ at Petra (Wadi Mousa) Jordan
